In the heart of the old city of Fez lies Riad Fès. Located close to the historical sites in the city’s ancient quarter, this hotel encapsulates all that is beautiful about the city—its longstanding tradition of arts and culture and its status as a crossroads of trade between Morocco and the rest of the world. Owned by one of Fez’s oldest and most prominent Fassi families, the riad was restored to its original splendour and renovated to incorporate modern facilities.
This regal property comprises a number of buildings clustered around a central covered patio. In this patio are large sofas, a gurgling wall fountain and a grand piano. Extending from the patio are the reception lounge, the hammam and two salons. On the upper floor and terrace are elegant rooms and suites, as well as a solarium, a fitness area and an al fresco restaurant. Two adjacent buildings complete the riad. One building boasts four suites and a pool surrounded by a relaxation deck. The other building accommodates a collection of rooms and suites, three dining rooms, a lounge with outdoor seating and a reflection pool. Traditional Moroccan décor with a modern accent dominates, and this style stems from Western aesthetic influences that were brought to Fez by the many local families that left Morocco for European cities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
